LIBRARY HOURS:

Adult Programs:

1. Public Computer Help: Every Tuesday 10AM-noon and Thursdays 2-4PM. Our volunteer will help with computer research and printing. Free and open to the public.

2. Knitting with Arnie: Second and Fourth Wednesday evenings from 7 – 9PM. Open to all adults. Bring your supplies.

3. San Carlos Quilters Club: Second Thursday of every month at 10AM – 12PM for adults. Open to all skills levels. Bring your own supplies.

4. Tai Chi Class: Every Friday and Saturday at 10:30AM on 2nd floor in room A . For adults only.

5. Overeaters Anonymous: Every Saturday at 10:15AM-noon on 2nd floor in room B. A 12-step recovery from compulsive overeating.
6. Meditation for Adults: Tuesday, September 12th at 6-7PM. Join us on the 2nd Tuesday of every month. You will be introduced to light rejuvenating yoga, powerful breathing techniques, and blissful meditation.
7. Third Sunday Book Sale: Sunday, August 20th from 1-4PM. Browse thousands of titles! PLEASE CONTINUE TO DONATE BOOKS!!
8.Enjoy Local Newspapers Online:  Monday, August 21st from 7-8 PM.  We’ll teach you how to read online versions of your favorite local newspapers.
9. Esoamerican Mythology, chocolate, and caves! Tuesday, August 22nd from 7:45-8:30 PM. Join the National Speleological Society on the 4th Tuesday of every month to explore the world of caving. This month we continue to explore Mesoamerica.

Book Clubs:

1. Daytime Book Club: Monday, September 11 at 10AM is LaRose by Louise Erdrich.

2. Mystery Book Club: Wednesday, August 23rd at 7PM is Rather Be the Devil by Ian Rankin. September 27: All the Missing Girls by Megan Miranda

ALL AGES SPECIAL EVENTS

Eating Disorders Anonymous:  Every Monday from 8-9 PM. A free community-led group for individuals at any stage of recovery for all eating disorders.

Pinhole Cameras & Star Wheels: Friday August 19th from 3:30-4:40 PM. Make a pinhole camera for viewing the solar eclipse and a star wheel for identifying stars.

Solar Eclipse Viewing: Monday, August 21st from 9 – 11:30 AM.  Join us as we experience this once in a lifetime astronomical event! View the eclipse safely in our famous two-story rotunda and watch the NASA Eclipse MegaCast.

Learn to Play Chess: Every Saturday at 11am. Chess play and basic instruction, all skill levels welcome. Chessboards and sets provided. Just drop in.

3D Printing:  Every Saturday and Sunday from 2-4PM. Every Monday from 1-3PM and every Tuesday from 6:30-8PM, except August 15th. All skill levels are welcome to stop by to learn more and select and print your own objects.

Teen Programs (6th-12th Grade)

Teen Cooking; Wednesday, August 9th and 16th at 4-5:30PM. Cook delicious vegetarian entrees, desserts, and snacks with us! *Drop-in session limited to 12 participants.

Teen Comic Book & Karaoke Party: Thursday, August 24th from 6:30-8 PM. Come after the library is closed to sing your lungs out and/or read some comic books. Pizza provided!

Kids’ Programs

Kids DIY: (K-5th graders, upstairs room A or B): Monday’s at 3:30 PM. August 7th Solar Oven; August 14th Ice Cream in a Bag; August 21st Yarn Lantern.

Paws for Tales: Thursday, September 14th from 4:30-5:30PM. Children can improve their reading skills by reading to a trained therapy dog. Registration required and a parent/guardian must accompany the child.

Kid’s Matinee: A Dog’s Purpose, rated PG: Thursday, August 17th from 3-5 PM. Join us for a special kid’s movie matinee of A Dog’s Purpose. Popcorn and juice while supplies last.

Solar Suncatcher Craft (All ages): Friday, August 18th from 3:30-4:30 AM. Join us as we make space related crafts to celebrate the rare solar eclipse on Aug 21st! Melt crayons (w/ adult help!) to create window solar suncatchers.

Jelly Jam Puppet Time: Tuesday, August 22nd from 10:30-11 AM. Join us as Risa invites the audience to become actors and dancers in a unique and fun interactive puppet show. All parts of the show are handmade by Risa herself!

Alphabet Rockers Hip Hop Dance Workshop: Monday, August 28th from 3:30-4:30 PM. Learn hip hop choreography perfect for kids age 2-5.

Storytimes: (Linger at the library for 30 minutes following most story times for open ended explorations and community time with parents, caregivers and children).

Mondays at 10:30AM: Preschool Story time (3-6years).

Mondays at 11:15AM: Chinese/English Bilingual Story time (all ages). 

Tuesdays at 10:30AM: Toddler Story time (18-36mos).

Wednesdays at 7PM: Pajama Story time (All ages).

Thursdays at 10:30AM: Baby Rhyme Time (0-2 years).

Fridays at 10:30AM: Spanish/English Bilingual Story time.

Saturdays at 10:30AM: Family Story time.
